  Noah's Ark - The NBC MovieThursday, October 31st, 2024
Kathy A Smith

Noah's Ark Most Christians will agree that the NBC TV movie of Noah's Ark had barely anything in common with the scriptures of the Bible. A whole book could be written on all the differences between the Bible and the movie. This article is not to emphasize the differences, but to point out the dark motives behind the movie and how dangerous it was to all those who are not familiar with the word of God. This movie made a complete fool and mockery out of God and His holy word. To the unbelieving world, the Bible was deliberately made to look completely ridiculous and foolish. Those who truly hate God's word were without doubt behind the making of this film. Satan's old tactics of getting people to doubt the word of God are clearly seen throughout the movie and is not even remotely hidden. An entirely wrong attitude about who God really is was portrayed all through the movie. The almighty Creator is portrayed not as a God of love and complete justice, but as a cruel, unstable God full of hatred and destruction. What a clever tactic of Satan to use a movie based on one of the most well known Bible stories to lead people away from God, instead of closer to Him.

THE MOVIE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE BIBLICAL STORY
Before getting to point number one, I do need to explain some of the differences between the Bible and the way it was changed by the movie. In the movie, God allows Noah to choose who is righteous enough to be spared from Sodom and Gomorrah. Noah and his wife come up with Noah's best friend, Lot and his wife, who were living as wickedly as everyone else. Lot even admits later on after he flees Sodom, that he doesn't worship God because God is too strict on rules and regulations. He wanted to continue living in sin and even later admits he wasn't worth saving.

BIBLICAL TRUTHS
The Bible never mentioned Noah and Lot as even knowing one another. Lot was Abraham's nephew who lived in Sodom. The true account was Abraham, asked God if He would spare the city if there were ten righteous people within it. God gets to determine who is righteous, not Noah, who wasn't even apart of the story of Sodom and Gomorrha! The scriptures in 2 Peter 2:6-9 say: "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:"

GOD IS THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE
Lot in the biblical account was a totally different man than the movie portrayed him to be. One reason the Bible gives for God wanting to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah was to deliver Lot, a righteous man, from sin and shame. The second reason was to destroy all the wicked who practiced filthiness and unlawful deeds. Never in any scripture does God agree to let anyone choose for him who is worthy or righteous. God is the judge of the earth! (Genesis 18:25) The movies deceptive message portrayed that God will overlook sin, and if someone is lucky enough, another human being will be able to save him or her from God's wrath. This totally contradicts scripture! God also will never save anyone against his or her will. God is a holy God who cannot overlook sin. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23). There is none that is righteous unless they accept what God has given to them. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). "For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him"(2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus is the only way we can become righteous and be saved, not through Noah, or a priest, or a Christian, not anybody! "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time" (1 Timothy 2:5-6).

TWISTED LIES
A direct blow against the Bible is the remark Noah's wife makes after Noah and his family escape out of Sodom soon after God destroyed it. Noah says "Maybe we will meet a scribe one day that will write it all down so future generations will know what happened". Noah's wife answers sarcastically that you can't trust scribbling scribes because they change things and by the time the scribes are finished writing down the story of Sodom and Gomorrah they will probably say Noah and his family weren't really even there! This statement is blatantly saying you can't trust those who wrote down the words of the Bible. It mocks and twists the true story around making the Bible look foolish because Noah and his family weren't really there. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed in Abraham's day and this was after Noah's flood not before it.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Tim 3:16). The Bible has been under trial by ungodly men that have tried to destroy or disprove it, and have repeatedly failed. Voltaire once said, "Another century and there will be not a Bible on the earth." The century is gone and the Bible is still the best seller. After Voltaire died his printing press and his house where he lived was purchased by the Geneva Bible Society and made a base for Bibles. So true is the scripture "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written," (Romans 3:4).

THE TRUTH THAT SETS MAN FREE
There are many testimonies of men who have started off to disprove or destroy the Bible and have been converted to Christianity because of its living word and accuracy. Any person who will honestly take time to read and study the Bible will agree that it is a supernatural book. The word of God is pure and living and speaks everything God wants us to know. The word of God will literally change a person's life for the better! It has already changed, saved and set free millions of lives.

OLD TACTICS
Satan's goal has always been to get people to doubt the word of God. Way back in Genesis chapter three Satan entered into the serpent and tricked Eve by deceiving her into doubting the word of God. "Yea hath God said". Satan whispers, did God really say that? This is so people will doubt the word of God. Satan's lies are never new he always uses the same old tactics. Once he gets people to doubt they begin to add to God's word (Genesis 3:2-3). After this, Satan will contradict God's word (Genesis 3:4-5). If a person will accept these lies they will be deceived into not trusting in the word of God, which will send them to hell. This is Satan's destructive goal and also the goal of those who are deceived into working for him.

MORE LIES
Another lie portrayed is when Noah is on the boat and God tells him He has made a mistake by creating humans. God is thinking about wiping out Noah and his family so this mistake will not happen again. God is a perfect God who never makes any mistakes. We only blame things on him when we mess up. The exact middle verse of the Bible which God supernaturally placed there for a reason is in Psalm 118:8 -"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."

In the movie, Noah then pleads with God saying that He's followed God with all his heart and soul and asks God to spare his family. God answers harshly by saying he has to think it over carefully so He won't be available for some time. God tells Noah he will just have to get through this on his own somehow. This horrendous statement makes God look unjust, unfaithful and evil to the people who have chosen to obey him. This again, is a total contradiction of God's word making God look like He is out of control and having no clue what he wants to do next. Over all, the statement suggests that we can never trust God. Man can improve by himself and doesn't need a God who isn't in control. This again teaches us to doubt God's word because God Himself even says He makes mistakes. This statement suggests God cannot be trusted because Noah has followed Him with all his heart and soul and God may still decide to destroy Noah and his family. All through the movie, God is falsely portrayed as being a strict God with many rules and regulations.

CHRISTIANITY vs. RELIGION
The movie portrays that you can never really be good enough to please God. Any unbeliever watching a movie like this one will be led farther away from a loving God that really wants to save them. This is just another movie and allegation that has been purposely planted in minds, brainwashing people into believing that God is a distant, unloving and unfaithful God. To hear false statements over and over again through the media, causes unhealthy thoughts about who God is. People feel they are without hope by statements like these. Since the beginning, man has tried to get to God through religion or by the works of His hands. Christianity is the complete opposite. Christianity is true freedom! The big difference is that Christ has paid the price so we don't have to be burdened with all the rules to try to ever hope to make it to God. Christianity is about a loving and forgiving God reaching down to humanity by sending His son Jesus, to die on the cross for the forgiveness of sin, and by faith, we believe and we are saved! "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

When we give our lives over to Jesus Christ we are made righteous by His blood shed on the cross. We will than want to please Him by doing good works, because we love Him and we are committed to Him. Good works will never produce anything in God's eyes unless first we make Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of our life. The void in our life will then be completely filled with the peace and love of God, that passes all understanding! "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36). Jesus speaking "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

THE PERFECT GOD
The Bible never mentions that God has ever made any mistakes or that He ever had second thoughts about wiping out Noah. Genesis 6:8-9 clearly states "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God". Noah was just, perfect, because he walked with God. God never forgets us once we are his children. Just as the beautiful scripture states; "And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; (made to cease)"(Genesis 8:1). In the New Testament Jesus blesses us with His promise "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."(Hebrews 13:5)

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD
God loves us now, and he also loved the people back in the days of Noah. Back then, man had willingly corrupted themselves and the earth and gave God no other choice but to destroy them."And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart" (Genesis 6:5-6). God's heart was grieved! God's holiness demanded that He judge the world of the ungodly and wicked. God is longsuffering towards his creation: "Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." (1 Pet 3:20) A holy, loving, righteous God waited and waited for people to stop living so wicked and violent towards one another. All He wanted was their obedience. "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." (Genesis 6:3). This verse seems to say God gave the people 120 years to repent. Once their time was up it was too late for the wicked. These people all had the choice to repent, but unfortunately they choose not to and were destroyed by the flood. God did not create us like puppets on a string. He created us with our own choice. We can disobey Him or either obey Him because we love Him. This is true love. God in His mercy even used Noah to preach to the world the way of righteousness, so they had no excuse at all. All God wanted was for people to love Him and obey Him as Noah did. "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;" (2 Peter 2:5). God is a loving God of mercy, but He is also a God of judgment. God is holy and is very serious about sin. Sin must be punished!

GOD REMEMBERS
Another fabricated part of the movie portrays Noah and his family beginning to go mad. God says that He will wipe them out. This is a complete contradiction of scripture once again. Again the beautiful verse is forgotten "And God remembered Noah". God never forgets His people, and He will always deliver the righteous.

Noah dances before God, which flatters God and He decides to spare him and let him live. This is another lie from the pit of hell that plants in people minds we can work our way to God. Believing they don't have to worry about eternity until after death because they will only need to do something about it then deceives a person. Somehow, the person believes, he will stay out of hell. The truth is, we doom ourselves to hell when we disobey God and reject His son Jesus. God has told us the truth, but just like Noah's day millions of people will reject it so they can live wickedly and by their own lusts. God then has no choice but to destroy them in Hell. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28). "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (Revelation 20:14). God clearly made the way of salvation not by works, but by grace. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

THE UNSPEAKABLE LIE
The movie ends with yet another reprehensible lie even worse then all the rest. God promises Noah that He would never raise his hand against the wicked again. He will keep silent and not destroy them, meaning He will never judge the world again. This again is a deceiving lie of Satan. God promised not to destroy the world again with a flood but next time with fire. "Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men" (2 Peter 3:6-7). This scripture explains that the world in Noah's day perished and the earth will once again come under God's judgment because of ungodliness. God will cleanse the earth with fire because of ungodliness. He will once again deliver His people (all true born again Christians) out of judgment. All these stories were written as an example for us to learn from them.

A SATANIC DOCTRINE?
The Satanic doctrine that was pushed across in this movie was that God is distant, uncaring, unloving, not trustworthy and He will never judge the world again. People falsely believe they can then live as wickedly as they want. They do not want to think that one day they will be accountable for their sins and have to stand in judgment before a holy God. This causes them to run from God. These kinds of movies will take many people to Hell unless the truth is preached. Will you hear what God is saying? "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up" (2 Peter 3:9-10).

THE DAYS OF GRACE
We are now in the days of grace. Two thousand years ago, Jesus came as God in the flesh to die for the sins of humankind so we could be forgiven for our sins. Once again God has been long suffering wanting none to perish. He still shines the sun and lets it rain on the just and the unjust. Each day the sins and abominations of man are once again reaching God's throne and then will come a time of great tribulation like never before. The age of grace is about to come to an end. Are you ready for Christ's return? You need to be, before it's to late! "But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" (Matthew 24:37-39).

THE WARNING
You have now been warned, just like the people were warned in the days of Noah. The Bible tells us there was only one door by which Noah and his family could go in to be saved. Almighty God shut that door. There is only one door that we can enter by in this age of grace. Jesus said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved," (John 10:9a). One day the door will be shut once again. Will you wait until it's too late, or will you repent and turn from sin and accept Christ as the only way of salvation, by making him your Lord, Savior, and master of your life? Or will you perish like the people in the days of Noah did and spend eternity in hell separated from almighty God. God loves you and is giving you a free decision. It's your choice. . .

THE WONDERFUL NEWS
Read what God has done for you. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). God is a God of love who sent His only begotten son to be crucified and to die a horrible death so our sins could be forgiven. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus was buried and rose again on the third day and is now seated on the right hand of God the Father making intercession for his saints. He now has the keys to death, hell and the grave, and is coming back again for his saints. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words" (1Thessalonians 4:16-18). Jesus Christ is coming back for all the righteous people who have trusted in the shed blood of His atonement.

THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION
Accepting Christ is the most important decision one can make in this lifetime. It is an eternal decision! No one but God knows what tomorrow holds; "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). One of Satan's biggest lies is to tell people to wait. He only comes to kill, steal and destroy.

God is saying; "Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD:" (Jeremiah 29:12-14a). "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).

The Bible says; "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9-10). To receive Christ into your life right now just say a simple prayer like the one below meaning it with all your heart:

Dear Lord God. I come to You a sinner and I humbly repent. I believe that Jesus is Lord and I believe You raised Him from the dead. I ask that Jesus will come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I receive Jesus to change and take control of my life that I may live for Him from this day forth and from now on. Thank You Lord Jesus for saving me and cleansing me with Your precious blood. In Jesus name, Amen.

3 very important steps to take as a new Christian seeking to grow in the Lord:
  1. Read the Bible daily (a good place to start is in the New Testament with the Gospel of John). Don't have a Bible? Read it on the web.
  2. Pray daily.
  3. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the full gospel of Christ. Pray that God will lead you to the right one. Fellowshipping with other believers is a very important step to growth in Christ.
